Summer Intensive

June 25 – July 27, 2018

Texas Ballet Theater School’s Summer Intensive emphasizes technique, artistic expression and musicality necessary to prepare well-rounded, classically trained dancers for a company career. Students ages 12-21 will experience five weeks of dedicated training on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Daily classes are held in the newly renovated TCU School for Classical and Contemporary Dance.

Curriculum includes ballet technique, pointe work, men’s class, variations and jazz. Additional classes include pas de deux (by invitation only), modern, and Latin ballroom, with dance-related studies such as nutrition, injury prevention, career planning, and Pilates.

Accepted students may choose between our five week program (June 25-July 27) and three week program (June 25 – July 14). Five week students will perform in a showcase at the conclusion of the intensive, and three week students may invite family and friends to observe classes on July 13-14. Limited space is available in the three week program.

Students who attend the Summer Intensive may apply for the Professional Division of the Texas Ballet Theater School. Those completing the five-week program are considered for the Professional Division, as well as trainee or apprentice positions with Texas Ballet Theater. Over 60% of current Texas Ballet Theater company dancers have been selected from the Summer Intensive or Professional Division.

Texas Ballet Theater’s Artistic Director, Ben Stevenson, O.B.E. supervises the program, and classes are taught by TBT Artistic Staff, Faculty and renowned guest instructors from around the world. All are dedicated to providing a personally-rewarding learning process.
