Cara Shipman came to Texas Ballet Theater through the 2013 Texas Ballet Theater School Summer Intensive Program. Originally from New Jersey, she began her training at New Jersey School of Ballet. After studying at the Joffrey Ballet School and the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet, she was chosen to join the GKA Studio Company. Career role highlights include Harald Lander’s Études, Ruby from Christopher Bruce’s  Rooster and performing in Ben Stevenson’s The Sleeping BeautySwan Lake, and Dracula. Cara is excited to begin her fifth season with TBT.

Ben Stevenson’s The Sleeping Beauty/garland dance

What surprised you the most about being a professional dancer?
How easy it is to take it for granted. This isn’t a typical job; don’t let it become that.

An American in Paris

What is your most memorable vacation?
Family vacation in Italy
